Brian Johnson is in his third season at Howard. Prior to HU, Johnson served as lead scout/assistant coach for the WNBA Washington Mystics for the 2008 season. Prior to that, Johnson was an assistant women's basketball coach at Rider University for three years.

No stranger to the MEAC, Johnson also had a coaching stint at Morgan State. He was on the coaching staffs at American University from 2002-2004 and Towson University in 1999-2001.

Johnson was with the New York Liberty (WNBA) for the 2001 season working as the assistant advance scouting/ video coordinator. He was also an advance scout for the New York Liberty and Washington Mystics, respectively.

A native Washingtonian, Johnson received his bachelor's degree from Drexel in 1998. He and his wife, Crystal and son Christian, reside in the District.
