VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. - Howard had 75 student-athletes named to the 2009 MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic team, the league announced on Friday.

A total of 593 student-athletes from the conference's 12 member institutions were honored for their academic success during the 2008-09 academic school year. The list acknowledges sophomores to seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

Howard's total ranked second highest amongst member schools. Delaware State University led the list with 78.

Leading the way on the women's side was the women's basketball team with seven honorees. On the men's side, the football team had 11 players garner the distinction.
