The Sports Network has cited Howard University linebacker Keith Pough as one of the top 10 linebackers in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) for the upcoming 2011 football season.
A 6-3, 235 –pound red-shirt junior from Orangeburg, SC, Pough's size, speed and range on the outside is intimidating. Opposing ball carriers especially felt this way last year after he led the FCS with 28.5 tackles for 148 yards in losses, including 10.5 sacks for 84 yards in losses.
He improved considerably because he learned to read plays better and put himself in excellent position, where his natural ability - which is always full speed - takes over. He finished the season with 100 tackles, five QB hurries, four forced fumbles and three passes defended.
Pough, who was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference 2010 first team, gave notice that he was going to be a special player. As a red-shirt freshman, Pough tallied 35 solos, 22 assists, 12.5 tackles for losses of 32 yard before injuring his knee in the 9th game of the season.
He currently has 157 tackles, including a whopping 40 for losses of 180 yards.
