Matthews Named MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Week
Joshua Matthews graded out at 98-percent of his assignments as he aided Howard to 309 yards of total offense in a win over Hampton. A 6-3, 330-pound junior guard from Bowman, SC, Matthews provided key blocks for Bison running back Terrence Leffall who rushed for a career-record 182 yards on 37 carries. Matthews also recorded three pancake blocks and did not allow a sack.
Other Howard player who were cited for their contributions in the win include Damon Gresham-Chisholm, Julien David and Leffall.
A 6-3, 250-pound freshman defensive end from Covington, Ga, Gresham Chisholm recorded four solo tackles, three for losses and forced three fumbles with one recovery.
A 5-11, 195-pound junior safety from Coral Springs, FL, David recorded nine tackles, including six solos, with 0.5 sacks for a loss of five yards.
Terrrence Leffall (HOW) rushed for a career-high 182 yards on 37 carries with two touchdowns in Howard's victory over Hampton.
