The Games
The Howard men's basketball team opens up play at the Duel in the Desert Classic with a contest against the host Aggies of Utah State. The Bison look to get started on the right foot before facing off with Wyoming tomorrow and Houston Baptist on day three of the tournament.

HU fell 98-73 to Portland in its last time out on Dec. 22. Freshman Calvin Thompson had a game-high 20 points and paced four Bison in double figures. Eugene Myatt added 18 points while freshman Chris McHenry and sophomore Adam Walker chipped in 15 and 10, respectively. The Pilots had five players score in double figures and were led by Nik Raivio's 19 points.

Utah State defeated Utah, 66-64 in its last decision. Tai Wesley had 18 points while Jared Quayle and Gary Wilkinson added 16 and 14, respectively.

Wyoming was downed by No. 13 UCLA, 113-62 in its last contest while Houston Baptist fell to Green Bay, 80-78 in its last time out on Dec. 22.

Scouting Utah State
Utah State is 9-1 with its lone loss coming against BYU on Dec. 6. Gary Wilkinson is averaging a team-high 17.3 points per game while Tai Wesley is averaging 12.0 points per game for the Aggies. Wilkinson is tops on the team with 7.0 rebounds per game. 

Utah State is coached by Stew Morrill, who is in his 11^th season with the Aggies.

Scouting Wyoming
The Cowboys (392) are paced by Afam Muojeke's 17.7 points per game. Brandon Ewing and Sean Ogirri add 16.8 and 15.5 ppg each while Tyson Johnson is pulling down a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game. Tyson also adds 14.7 points per game.

Wyoming is coached by Heath Schroyer, who is in his second season with the Cowboys.

Scouting Houston Baptist
The Huskies are 0-12 and are led by Gordon Watt (17.2 ppg) and Baron Sauls (16.5 ppg). Emanuel Willis adds 10.0 points per game and Watt leads the team in rebounding with 7.9 rpg.

Houston Baptist is coached by Ron Cottrell, who is in his 17^th year at HBU.

Bison Hooves
Eugene Myatt needs 94 points to become the 17th player in school history to score 1,000 points in their career...Freshmen Calvin Thompson (20) and Chris McHenry (15) scored their career highs in the loss to Portland...The Bison have dropped eight in a row after opening the season with a win over Oregon State...This is the third leg of a nine-game road trip that started at Madison Square Garden on December 6 and will conclude on January 12 in Florida...Randy Hampton, who missed both games in Oregon with an injury, returns to the lineup against Utah State.
