Howard Announces 2010 Men's Soccer Schedule
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard University men’s soccer team will kick off its season on Friday, August 20 with a road exhibition match against Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. The Bison Booters will follow with home exhibition matches against cross-town rival University of the District of Columbia on Tuesday, August 24 at 7 pm and against Mary Washington on Friday August 27, also at 7 pm.
The season begins in earnest on Wednesday, September 1 when Howard takes on American University in the first round of the DC College Cup at 5 pm at Reeves Field on the campus of American University. The Booters will follow with a match against George Washington University in the second round on Saturday at 12 noon.
Howard’s first home match is Tuesday, September 7 when it hosts Mount Saint Mary’s during Fan Appreciation Day at 7 pm in Greene Stadium.
The Booters have home matches on Tuesday, September 14 at 3 pm against Virginia Tech and on Tuesday, September 21 against Liberty at 7 pm. That match has been designated Academic Recognition Day.
Howard’s first Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) match is Saturday, October 9 against Longwood. It is Community Outreach Day and the action gets underway at 7 pm. The Bison will follow with another home conference match on Sunday, October 17 when they host Adelphi for Alumni Weekend at 4 pm.
Howard will close out their home season against VMI at 7 pm on Wednesday, October 27. The senior members of the team will be honored in pre-game ceremonies. The Bison Booters will end the season in a 7 pm road match at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) on Tuesday, November 2.
The ASC tournament gets underway on Thursday, November 11 in Garden City, NY and concludes with the conference championship on Sunday, November 14. The tournament winner advances to the NCAA tournament.
