WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard University tennis teams open up regular season play on Saturday with a match against Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va. The 2008-09 squads are fairly young yet on the brink of playing at their full potential. Coach Strickland expects a great season from this young Bison squad that is full of both challenges and victories.

Strickland has assembled a challenging non-league schedule with a number of teams ranked nationally in the preseason ITA poll including William and Mary (64th in the nation), Virginia (5th in the nation) and UNC (20th in the nation).

"Adding Virginia to the schedule gives us a tough schedule but this is the most talented team I've ever had", said Strickland. "We open up conference play at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday March 13th. This team is still young and the challenge will be how good they'll become."

Strickland is expecting a lot from veteran Christopher Brown, who was undefeated in MEAC play last year and Michael Gee, a senior transfer from Clemson and sister to Lady Bison netter, Michele Gee.
