NORFOLK, VA. - The Howard tennis squads opened up its regular season with a pair of losses to Old Dominion on Jan. 31. 

The men's squad was downed 7-0 while the Lady Bison fell to ODU by the same score.

Michael Gee had a tough matchup at No. 1 versus Tobias Fanselow with Fanselow edging Gee 7-5, 6-1. Yakov Diskin narrowly took down Christopher Brown at No. 2, 6-1, 7-5 while George Diggs fell at the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-0 to ODU's Alex Funkhouser.

Eric Chavous fell to Matt Fawcett at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1 and Omar Haloui had a good outing before being downed by Ben Marks at the No. 5 singles, 604, 6-1. Ben Marks defeated Tonique Merrill at the final singles spot, 6-1, 6-1.

The singles action on the women's side, No. 1 Ashley Moore fell to Nadine Fahoum, 6-1, 6-1 while Joanna Dombrowska took down Michele Gee at No. 2, 6-0, 6-2.

Alyssa Works was downed at the No. 3 spot by Margarita Spicin (6-1, 6-0) while Whitney Ambush and Lauren Fenn were blanked at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Howard is back in action with a matchup against George Washington on Feb. 4 in Montclair, Va.
