Howard Outlasts Bethune-Cookman In MEAC Tournament
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 2 Howard men's tennis squad captured four consecutive singles points to fuel a 4-3 win over No. 3 Bethune-Cookman in the opening round of the MEAC Championship on Friday. The Bison move on to face No. 1 Florida A&M in the semifinals on Saturday at noon.
Omar Haloui topped Marc Misanovic 6-7, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Devard Wharton followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 to give Howard a 2-1 lead in the match.
George Diggs got the win at No. 3 singles over Emil Vassilev, 6-3, 6-3 for the third Bison point in the match. Eric Chavous clinched the match win with a 7-6 (3-0), 6-2 victory at No. 4 over Yannick Jackson.
