ATLANTA, GA. - The Howard softball team dropped a pair of contests to Georgia State Thursday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga. HU dropped the first contest 6-0 before falling 10-1 in the nightcap.
The Panthers (9-3) scored five runs in the first three innings to top Howard in the first matchup. Lorae Robinson paced HU with two hits while Nicole Saez and Morgan Plowden added one hit apiece.
Senior Christina McCoy picked up the loss for the Bison on the mound while Heather Lowry got the win for Georgia State after allowing two hits in five innings of work.
GSU swept Howard after jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the second game of the doubleheader. The Panthers scattered a pair of runs in the bottom of each inning after that for the 10-1 win.
Courtney Young led Howard with a 2-for-3 outing in the nightcap. Christine Sborz finished 1-for-3 with one run while Aisha Ledet, Nicole Saez and Emily Johnson contributed one run each.
Howard (1-3) next competes in the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic on March 5-7 in Woodstock, Ga.
