Softball Closes Out Regular Season against Mount St. Mary’s
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard University women's softball team will close out the 2012 regular in a non-conference doubleheader matchup against Mount Saint on Thursday in Clinton, MD. The first game gets underway at 3:30 pm and the second at approximately 5:30.
It will be the last home game for Rebeccal Kirshner, Samantha Gatson, Trina Kindred, Andascha Moore-Pryor and Lorae Robinson.
Kirschner, a senior from Gaithersburg, MD, will go down as the top shortstop in school's history. A candidate for All MEAC honors, the slick fielding Kirshner, leads the conference with 144 assists while leading the team in RBI.
Gatson, a senior pitcher from Riverside, CA, leads the team in starts, innings pitched and appearances. She has also had a fine season at the plate.
Kindred, a senior second baseman from Moreno Valley, CA, is having a fine season batting over .300 to ranks among the team leaders in that category.
Moore-Pryor is a senior outfielder from Riverside, CA who ranks third on the team in RBI with 16.
Robinson, who has been consistent throughout her career at the Hilltop, is having her best season. The senior outfielder from Fontana, CA leads the team in batting with a .340 average while also ranking third in the MEAC with 17 successes on 19 base stealing attempts.
Howard recently dropped a three-game series against Delaware State this past weekend. During the series, The Lady Bison posted 25 hits, including four home runs.
The Lady Bison (11-36, 8-10 in the MEAC) are battling Hampton for the fourth spot in the Northern Division. The Lady Pirates (20-29, 8-7 in the MEAC) can wrap up that spot if they win just one of their upcoming conference games. Hampton hosts North Carolina Central on Wednesday and then close out the regular season in a doubleheader at Norfolk State on Friday.
