Bison Capture Titles at MSU Legacy Meet

BALTIMORE, MD. - The Bison tracksters captured a pair of first-place finishes at the Morgan State Legacy Meet. Senior Lauren McNary and junior Landria Buckley each won events for the Lady Bison during action at the two-day meet in Baltimore.

McNary won the 400m dash in 54.70 and Buckley took first in the 400m hurdles (1:00.34). Both McNary and Buckley have already qualified next month's NCAA Outdoor Regional Championship.

Buckley later won bronze in the 100m hurdles with a mark of 13.65, improving on her NCAA Regional mark. Alexandria Lemonious took sixth in the same event in 14.31 and Janelle Wallace was 10th in 14.72.

   

Jami Hardy took fifth in the 800m run (2:15.49) and Norell Abernathy had a top-five finish in one of the field events after placing fourth in javelin, throwing 33.89m (111'2").

The Lady Bison finished eighth overall with 38 points.

The men's squad was ninth with 28.5 points. Daniel Kinney notched a pair of top-three events in the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. The senior won bronze in the 100m hurdles (13.93) and later qualified for NCAA Regionals in the 400m hurdles after crossing the line in 52.49.

Kinney, who already qualified for the NCAA Regional meet in the 100m hurdles, greatly improved on his 14.29 qualifying mark set at the Colonial Relays on April 3-4.

Senior Thurman Sanders placed fourth in the 1500m run (4:01.10) and Rashard Nelson was ninth in the same event in 4:06.68.

Christopher Harrison took fifth in the 400m dash (47.57). Harrison qualified for NCAA Regionals in that event at the Raleigh Relays on March 27-28.

Stephen Small-Warner jumped 7.00m (23') in the long jump, en route to a sixth-place finish. Benjamin Rosa was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 13.62m (44'7").

Richard Williams was ninth in the 800m run (1:53.09) and the 4x100m relay team (Tochi Odocha, Small-Warner, Anthony Penny, Brandon Carter) took sixth in 42.23.

Howard travels to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Relays this weekend.
