NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - The Bison tracksters competed at the Vince Brown Invitational on Feb. 7, its last regular season meet before the MEAC Championship.

Christopher Harrison won the 400 m dash in 49.75 with teammate Daniel Kinney placing fourth with in 50.34, Kinney added another fourth place finish in the 55 m hurdles in 7.44.

The Bison had four athletes in the top eight in the 800 m run.  Thurman Sanders finished fourth with a time of 1.57.95.  Lavernon Spivey (1.59.45.), Rashard Nelson (2.00.31), and Hamadi Prince (2.00.94) took sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Benjamin Rosa finished fourth in the triple jump (13.37m).  Richard Williams placed fifth in the 1-mile run with a time of 4.29.40 and Tochi Odocha finished sixth in the 200m dash in 22.73.

The relay teams also fared well. The men's distance medley squad (Thurman Sanders, Chase Benjamin, Hamadi Prince, Rashard Nelson) was first with a time of 11.22.04.The 4x400 meter relay team (Christopher Harrison, Richard Williams, Daniel Kinney, Lavernon Spivey) placed second in 3.24.79.

Ashley Hodges was the runner-up in the 800m run in 2.15.85 with teammate Lauren McNary taking the bronze in 2.19.09.

Alexandria Lemonious finished second in the 55m hurdles in 8.20.  Jami Hardy had a strong showing in the 1-mile run placing fourth with a time of 5.20.11. 

Alexandria McKee tied for third in the high jump with a 1.55 m effort. Brittany Stephens ran the 400 m dash in 1.00.38 good for sixth place.

The women's distance medley team (Brittany Jackson, Lillian Daniels, Azalia King, Tamila Myles) finished second with a time of13.45.81. The Women 4x400 relay team (Janelle Wallace, Ashley Hodges, Alexandria Lemonious, Latayvia Jackson) took the bronze in 4.17.71.

Howard is back in action on Feb. 13-14 at the MEAC Indoor Championships in Landover, Md.
