Kinney Qualifies for NCAA Outdoor Regional Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - Daniel Kinney (Romulus, Mich./Romulus H.S.) qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Regional Championship during action at the Colonial Relays on April 3-4 at Zable Stadium.

Kinney joins fellow Bison Christopher Harrison, Lauren McNary and Landria Buckley as NCAA qualifiers this season.

Kinney won the 110m hurdles in 14.29 en route to his NCAA qualifying time.

Carnegie Tirado was 13th in the same event after finishing in 15.38.

Stephen Small-Warner won bronze in the long jump after leaping 7.14m (23'4"). Anthony Penny took sixth in the 100m dash (11.02) and Tochi Odocha placed sixth in the 200m dash in 21.87.

The men's 4x400m relay squad (Harrison, Richard Williams, Kinney, Brandon Carter) was fifth in 3:15.67 and the 4x110m shuttle relay team (DeAndre Henderson, Marcus Harrison, Kinney, Tirado) also placed fifth after crossing the line in 1:03.12.

The distance medley squad of Jerod Franklin, Kimery Williams, Richard Williams and Thurman Sanders was eighth in 10:20.74.

The women's team saw a first-place finish from Buckley in the 100m hurdles. The Michigan native won her event in 13.69. Teammate Alexandria Lemonious was not far behind and took third in 14.09.

Lemonious also won bronze in the long jump (5.72m or 18'8") and Ashley Hodges took seventh in the 800m run in 2:12.86.

In other field events, Norell Abernathy was ninth in the shot put with a throw of 32.59m (106'9"). Alexandria McKee placed ninth in the high jump after leaping 1.55m (5'1").

The women's 4x400m relay (McNary, Brittany Stephens, Buckley, Jami Hardy) was the runner up in 3:44.96 and the distance medley squad (Hardy, Buckley, McNary, Hodges) placed fourth in 11:53.95.
