Oct 5, 2008 Bison Remain Undefeated in Conference PlayBALTIMORE, MD. - Howard made easy work of Morgan State and defeated the Bears 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 26-24) in a conference matchup Sunday afternoon in Baltimore, Md. With the win, the Bison improved to 2-0 in league play and pushed them to a first-place tie with Maryland Eastern Shore. Howard's win ended a 25-match losing streak to Morgan State dating back to the second match of the 1996 season (a 3-1 MSU victory). HU was paced by senior Elyssa Lee. The Media, Pa. native had a match-high 13 kills and led the team with a .417 attack percentage. Sophomore Gazelle d'Artois and freshmen Taylor Johnson and Gabrielle Martin each added 10 kills apiece. Sophomore Nicole Brown led all players with 15 digs and freshman setter Grace DeMichelis 42 assists and seven digs. Morgan State (1-18, 0-2 MEAC) got 13 kills from Ivanti Bush. Dina Beaman had nine digs and Christa Rogers added 26 set-assists. The Bison return to action tomorrow with a non-conference matchup against Loyola (Md). Game time against the Greyhounds is set for 7 p.m. in Baltimore, Md. |
