Howard Rolls over Winston-Salem State

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard shot 51% in the second half and rolled over Winston-Salem State, 91-62 in a non-conference women's basketball contest Saturday afternoon at Burr Gymnasium.

HU (3-20) outscored WSSU 51-25 in the second half and scored 37 points off turnovers compared to 16 by the Lady Rams (2-20). Howard held a 35-19 advantage in bench points and picked up 17 steals to WSSU's two.

Junior center Tamaya Daniels paced Howard with a game-high 21 points off the bench. Seniors Asha Santee and Shannon Carlisle added 18 points each and freshman Zykia Brown chipped in 11. Carlisle also had a game-high five steals on the defensive end. Guard Reyna Gross finished with six assists and four steals in 22 minutes of play.

Winston-Salem State got a team-high 17 points from Corbin Bradford. Vontisha Woods added eight rebounds.

Howard will try to keep up its winning ways on Monday when they host South Carolina State in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
