Doyle Named MEAC Player of the Week
NORFOLK, Va., February 28, 2011- Howard forward Saadia Doyle was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Doyle averaged 20.0 points, and 10.5 rebounds to lead the Lady Bison in two wins against Bethune-Cookman and Maryland Eastern Shore. She posted 22 points, 10 rebounds and was perfect from the charity stripe (6-of-6) as the Lady Bison defeated Bethune-Cookman, 54-39. The sophomore followed that performance with a double-double of 18 points, 11 rebounds and one steal against Maryland Eastern Shore. For the week, Doyle shot 51.0 percent from the floor and 92.0 percent from the charity stripe.
The Atlanta, Ga. also reached the 1,000 point-plateu against UMES. She became only the second player in Howard University history to score 1,000 points in their second season of competition.
