WACO TX- The HU Women's Basketball team faced a disappointing 82-28 loss against top ranked Baylor University on Friday, Nov. 11.
The Lady Bison had a rough start as they were held scoreless until just under the nine minute mark in the first half. A traditional three-point play by junior Nicole Deterville put Howard on the scoreboard, 28-3.
At the half, both teams were tied with seven turnovers, however HU was unable to capitalize on the Bears mishaps and open looks. As a result, HU went into halftime with a 42-7 deficit.
BU came out strong to start the second period. The Bears went on a 7-0 run until it was ended by senior-guard, Zykia Brown at the 17:40 mark. From there, Baylor held their ground and closed the game with a final score of 82-28.
For Howard, Tamoria Holmes finished with a team-high of nine points, while and junior point-guard Cheyenne Curley-Payne chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.
From the Lady Bears, Brittney Griner recorded a game-high 22 points, 13 boards, and eight blocked shots.
