Game Notes: Howard vs. Savannah State
WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – February 1 – After going 3-1 on the road, the Howard University women's basketball ventures back to Burr Gymnasium for a four-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference homestand beginning with Savannah State University on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2:00 p.m.
HU conquered North Carolina A&T, 44-42 (Jan. 19), North Carolina Central, 56-30 (Jan. 21) and New Jersey Institute of Technology, 46-33 (Jan. 24), while falling to Hampton, 67-45 (Jan. 28).
Two Lady Bison tallied double-doubles during Howard loss to Hampton, including Cheyenne Curley-Payne's first double-double of the 2012-13 campaign.
In the loss, Curley-Payne led the mighty blue and white in four categories: points (14), rebounds (12), assists (5), and steals (3). With her eighth double-double, senior Saadia Doyle scored 10 points and pulled down 10 boards, while sophomore Cheyenne Brown tallied a season-best seven points.
Collectively, Howard shot 33 percent from the field (18-55), nine percent from behind the arc (1-11) and 57 percent from the charity stripe (8-14).
Howard is 11-8 on the season, 5-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, 6-7 on the road and 5-1 at home.

Among 340 mid-major Division I institutions in the country, the Lady Bison ranked 12th above Richmond (Atlantic 10), Harvard (Ivy) and Central Michigan (Mid-American) on the preseason list.
