Holley Nets Career High 11 Goals against Wilmington
ABERDEEN, MD. - Senior attack Sakita Holley (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro H.S.) scored a career-high 11 goals in a 21-18 loss to Wilmington College Monday evening in Aberdeen, Md.
Howard held a 23-19 advantage in ground balls and was edged 7-6 in assists.
Holley opened the game up with an unassisted goal at 29:14. Kory Webster evened things up for the Wildcats at 27:25 but Holley scored three consecutive goals to give the Bison a 3-1 lead.
The New Jersey native scored six of her game-high 11 goals in the first stanza. Ashlee Brown also added a goal as Howard trailed 11-7 at the intermission.
Wilmington scored five straight goals after the break and took a 16-7 advantage with 17:38 left.
Ashley Lawrence ended the Bison scoring drought with a goal at 17:03. Lawrence, Brown and Holley teamed up to cut down the Wildcat lead, but it was not enough as Wilmington escaped with the victory.
Howard (0-8) is back in action on Thursday at Longwood.
