WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – February 13 – The Bison lacrosse team faced a very tough George Washington squad, as the Bison fell 22-7 at William H. Greene Stadium on Wednesday, Feb. 13
The Bison dropped its record to 0-2 overall with the loss, as the Colonials opened its season with the victory.
The Bison were under constant firing as GW fired off 47 total shots including 28 in the second half in comparison to the Bison's 14.
The Colonials were the first to score as sophomore Rachel Mia scored on a free position shot within the first five minutes of play.
The Bison soon answered when sophomore Jaymie Cox netted her fourth season goal.
The Bison took a 2-1 lead when freshman Victoria Lockhart scored with 21:22 left in the first half. The Bison and Colonials went goal-for-goal until 1:05 left in the opening half when Mia and Nicole Lacey scored unanswered points. The Colonials went into the half with a 7-5 lead.
The Bison were unable to gain any momentum after the half as the Colonials scored 14 unanswered goals.
HU's Cox scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the second half on an unassisted shot. Junior Courtney Lackey also netted an unassisted shot.
The Bison will head for Farmville, Va., to take on Longwood University on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 1:00 p.m.
