WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard edged Longwood, 4-3, in a season ending victory on Saturday. The win gives the Bison a 13-3 season record and momentum as the number one seed in the upcoming MEAC Tournament.
The Lady Bison secured the first singles decision as Michelle Brown defeated Zsofia Jakob 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1. Brittany Morgan continued with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lauren Simon at No. 2. The Lancers (10-8) came back with wins at No.3 and No.4 but Howard closed singles play with back-to-back victories in the last contests. Michele Gee and Anne Akhimien won at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively to give HU the win.
Longwood kept things close and opened things up with a sweep in doubles play. But strong singles play helped Howard prevail in the end.
Howard kicks off play at the MEAC tournament on April 16-18.
