WASHINGTON, D.C. - Gazelle d'Artois had nine kills and Jiya Brown added eight, but Georgetown rallied for a first set victory and went on to post a 25-23, 25-22, 25-18 win over Howard on Monday at Burr Gymnasium.

d'Artois led the team kills while also pacing the Lady Bison in digs with 12. Gabrielle Martin had six kills for HU, while Jasmine King and Keri Partridge added three kills each. Nia Moore contributed four kills.

King also added 10 digs and 28 assists, while Nicole Brown posted eight digs.

Georgetown, which improved to 10-5 on the season, was led by Vanessa Dorismond who had 10 kills and three digs. Kortney Robinson finished with nine kills and Tory Rezin led the team in digs with nine.

Nicole Brown's ace gave the Bison a 22-19 lead late in the first set. The Hoyas, however, tied things up at 22 on kills from Vanessa Dorismond, Kortney Robinson and Sara Manley. Blocks by Ashley Malone and Dorismond gave GU a two-point advantage at 24-22. d'Artois' kill closed the Bison within a point at 24-23, but a Dorismond kill sealed the game one win for Georgetown.

The Lady Bison held a 20-18 lead late in the second set, but gave up four straight points before GU took a two-point lead at 22-20. Georgetown held on for the 25-22 win.

The third set was a nip and tuck decision between the two teams as both squads traded points in the opening minutes. A Partridge kill gave Howard an 8-7 lead, but Georgetown later regained the lead on Bison miscues.

GU began to pull away in the third set, 14-11, after five tie-scores before the 11th-point mark. The Hoyas gained their largest advantage of the set at 21-14 after an attack error, but the Bison tallied three quick points to get back within four at 22-18. A pair of blocks combined with a Bison error and a service ace gave Georgetown the next three points, and the 25-18 match win.

Howard (1-16) next competes in the Bryant Invitational on Sept. 26-27.
