Volleyball Outlasts Morgan State in Five-Set Thriller

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Three Bison registered double-digit kills to lead the Howard women's volleyball team past Morgan State, 3-2, on Friday evening in a MEAC decision at Burr Gym Gym. Set scores were 25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 21-25, 15-13.

Howard improved to 8-23 and 4-3 in MEAC play as it held off a pesky Morgan State (7-20, 2-5 MEAC) squad in an entertaining back-and-forth battle.

 

Junior Gazelle d'Artois led the way for HU as she posted a career-high 23 kills. Sophomores Gabrielle Martin and Taylor Johnson added 11 and 10 kills each. d'Artois and Martin added 14 digs apiece for double-doubles. Junior Nicole Brown led the Lady Bison in digs with 24 and freshman Jasmine King notched 45 assists and nine digs.

MSU saw two players in double figure kills, led by 15 from Ivanti Bush and 10 from Erin Cox.  Dina Beaman had the match-high with 31 digs.

The Lady Bison will look to make it three in a row on Sunday afternoon when it travels to Delaware State for a 2 p.m. matchup.
