d'Artois Named to Liberty All-Tournament Team

LYNCHBURG, VA. - Junior Gazelle d'Artois (Newhall, Calif./Hart H.S.) was named to the Liberty Invitational presented by Pepsi All-Tournament Team, it was announced today.

The outside hitter had a double-double of 18 kills and 11 digs against Elon. She totaled seven kills, a team-high, in a matchup against the host Flames and later added 19 kills and seven digs against East Tennessee State.

d'Artois, a 2008 All MEAC first-team selection, hit .217 in three matches at the invitational.

The Lady Bison were nipped by tourney champs Elon, 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-21) on day one of the invite. d'Artois' double-double paced HU while sophomore Tosin Elebute (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Middle Tennessee State) added 12 kills. Junior Nicole Brown (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly H.S.) chipped in 12 digs on the defensive end. 

Jiya Brown (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei H.S.) had a match-high nine digs in HU's 3-0 loss to Liberty. Freshman Jasmine King (Rex, Ga./Chamblee H.S.) contributed 19 assists and five digs.

Howard wrapped up tourney play with a 3-2 loss to East Tennessee State. Elebute led all players with a match-high 21 kills and Nicole Brown added 13 digs. King had a solid all-around game and finished with a match-high 55 assists, six digs and two blocks.

HU faces off with Loyola (Md.) on Tuesday in the home opener for the Lady Bison. Tip-off is slated for 7pm at Burr Gymnasium.
