STORRS, Conn. – The HU volleyball team (0-5) matched up against Binghamton Bearcats (1-5), in its first matchup at the UConn Toyota Classic Sept. 2. Seeking their first win of the season, the Lady Bison was defeated by the Bearcats  20-25, 16-25 and 17-25.

Stand-out senior, Tosin Elebute recorded her first double-double of the season – finishing the game with 10 kills and 12 digs. Gabrielle Martin tied Elebute with 10 kills. Leading the game in assist, Stephanie Shultis chipped in 24 out of the teams 26 kills. Riana Cain contributed 14 digs.

BU managed to hold off the Bison, finishing the game with three players in double digits. Julie Chambers recorded 14 assists, and Amanda Dettmann chipped in with 11. Defensively, Xiomara Ortiz ditched out 13 digs.

HU will continue to compete in the Classic, facing Big East opponent UConn September 3 beginning at 12:30 pm.
