Howard v. Coastal Carolina                                                     

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – Howard University sophomore Assata Conway provided a strong performance and was named to the All-Tournament team during the two-day Pittsburgh Panther Invitational hosted by Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday, Aug. 31 – Saturday, Sept. 1

The two-day event consisted of Butler, Coastal Carolina, Howard and Pitt.

HU began the tournament with Butler.  During the evening opener, Butler defeated the Bison 3-0.  Conway led the squad with six kills on 13 attempts, while sophomore Stephanie Shultis circulated 19 assists and sophomore Alexis Skinner collected 12 digs. 

Howard's Saturday competition began with Pitt taking a 3-0 victory.  Conway remained consisted, once again finishing with a team-high six kills on 14 attempts, as Shultis distributed 16 assists and junior Jasmine Tipton dug nine Pitt attacks.

In the final game of the tournament, HU lost 3-0 to Coastal Carolina.  Conway and fellow sophomore Meagan Lagerlef shared the offensive responsibilities with four kills apiece.  Shultis provided 12 assists, while Tipton collected 11 digs.  Conway and Shultis also assisted on two blocks each. 

The mighty blue and white continues with tournament action on Friday, Sept. 7 for the two-day Maddie Bingaman Memorial Tournament at UMBC in Baltimore, Md.  UMBC welcomes Colorado, Howard, James Madison, and Robert Morris.
