HOWARD VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO HAMPTON, NORFOLK STATE
WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – The Howard University women's volleyball team dropped to 0-4 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference competition with 3-0 loss to Hampton and 3-2 loss to Norfolk State on the weekend.
HU middle hitter Assata Conway led the Lady Bison with six kills on 11 attempts with three errors, while setter Stephanie Shultis circulated 12 assists and Jalezza Stoudermire collected nine digs during the Friday, Oct. 5 matchup.
On Sunday, Oct. 7, the mighty blue and white opened the match with the first two set wins. During set one and set two, HU defeated NSU 25-22. But, NSU regained its home advantage and secured the next three set wins for the MEAC victory.
As a team, the Lady Bison notched 21 kills with 26 errors on 92, 21assists, six service aces, and 30 digs.
Conway and outside hitter Meagan Lagerlef shared the offensive effort with 13 kills apiece, as Shultis distributed a season-high 37 assists. Along with Skinner's 14 digs, Jasmine Tipton, Stoudermire and Lagerlef each gathered eight digs.
Collectively, the mighty blue and white notched 46 kills with 24 errors on 155 attempts, 41 assists, five service aces, and 52 digs.
Howard drops to 0-13 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
HU continues the season with Coppin State on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m. in Baltimore, Md., and Morgan State on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Baltimore, Md.
