Howard Volleyball Announces 2010 Schedule
Howard University women’s volleyball coach Dawn Barnes announced her team’s 2010 schedule on Thursday. The non-conference slate includes matches with opponents from the Big East, Mid-American and Atlantic-10 conferences, local foes Georgetown, George Washington and American, and four tournaments.

My Summer Experience in Japan ~ I’ve Seen…
So far I have been enjoying a great time adapting to the culture and daily social practices in Japan. Japan is rated among the most frequently toured countries in Asia. Annually, foreigners from all over the globe come to bear witness to the many traditional temples and shrines, the unique infrastructure, and the growing pop-culture that together allow Japan to maintain its high-held name.

My Summer Experience in Japan ~ Homestay in Mobara
Last week I participated in a Home Stay Program that allowed me to live with a Japanese family in Mobara-Chiba, Japan for a week. The program was amazing. Initially, I waited in heavy anticipation to see what my Japanese family would be like, and how they would differ from my American family. Needless to say, there were many different customs and practices I had to adapt to.

The defending MEAC champion Florida A&M Lady Rattlers defeated the Howard Bison 3-0 in the third match of the day during the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Championship tournament at the Coppin Center on the campus of Coppin State University.

Gazelle d'Artois had 11 kills and Howard outblocked Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) 11-1, but the Bison dropped its season finale to UMES 25-14, 25-14, 25-18 on Sunday in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match in Hytche Athletic Center.

The Howard volleyball team powered past Hampton in the first set, 25-14 before the Pirates slipped past the Bison, 3-2 in the match. Howard won the first and third sets and got 21 kills from junior Gazelle d'Artois. The decision was the final home match for the Bison and senior Aisha Ledet was honored in pregame festivities.

A rally by the Howard volleyball team fell short in the third set as Loyola (Md.) hung on for the 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 27-25) victory Wednesday evening at Burr Gymnasium. The two squads tied things up at 25 before the Greyhounds took the final set, 27-25 to capture the match. Junior Gazelle d'Artois (Newhall, Calif./Hart H.S.) tallied a season-high 20 kills and classmate Nicole Brown (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly H.S.) recorded a match-high 14 digs.

2009 Howard Volleyball Season Outlook
A new attitude and new commitment adds up to new excitement. The Howard University volleyball team posted one of its best seasons in recent memory with seven conference wins, the most since 2001. The Lady Bison also had an all-MEAC performer in Gazelle d’Artois to go along with a three-time MEAC Rookie of the Week honoree in Gabrielle Martin.
