Cross Country Opens Up Season at JMU Invitational

NEW MARKET, VA. - Thurman Sanders paced the men's cross-country squad to a seventh place finish at the JMU Open Invitational on Saturday at New Market Battlefield.
Sanders finished the course in 26:48.20 as HU's first runner to cross the line. Richard Williams finished in a time of 27:40.20 and Jerod Franklin was not far behind in 27:43.90.
The Bison finished with 212 points to place seventh in the team competition, while Duke won the invitational with 23 points.
On the women's side, the Lady Bison posted a ninth place finish at the JMU Invitational. Ashley Hodges finished the race in a time of 20:54.30 in Howard's season-opening competition.
Jami Hardy and Danielle Douglas finished second and third for the Lady Bison respectively. Hardy was 69th overall in 22:11.90, while Douglas crossed the line in 23:38.60 to place 92nd.
Howard will compete at the Cappy Anderson meet on Saturday, Sept. 19.
