TOP 10 FINISHES LEAD TO 3RD PLACE HOWARD CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. (www.howard-bison.com) - Three top ten finishes by the Howard University cross country team proved the leverage needed to capture third place during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Princess Anne, Md.

The third place title is the highest finish by Howard under the helm of head cross country coach Curtis Pittman.

Elisha Metto crossed the finish line first for the Bison with a time of 25:02.69, Metto took third place; this is the second consecutive top 10 finish for the Kenyan native.

Giovanni Mowatt placed eighth with a time of 25:56.71, while Aaron Harrison took 10th in a time of 26:25.61.

Fellow teammate Elly Rono took 13th place with a time of 26:25.39, as James Carey took 19th place in 27:07.99.

On the women's side, Mariza Diaz continued her season-long excellence with an 11th place finish with a time of 19:29.95.

Howard concludes the 2012 cross country season with this event.
