Many people strive to improve their health by losing weight and cutting out sugar and fat from their diets. However, it is critical to make sure that any weight loss is done safely and without causing harm to the body. While there are many ways to lose weight, patience and a few key dietary, exercise, and habit changes will help speed up the process. Here are some do’s and don’ts when trying to lose weight.

1. Keep A Track Of What You Consume 

You can achieve better results by logging your food intake. The majority of the overestimate their activity level and underestimate their caloric intake. Then, we can’t figure why we are not getting rid of those extra kilos. 

By Keeping a food diary, you see where extra calories are coming from, but it also developes the level of accountability. You will always feel better tracking your food intake. 

2. Daily Physical Activity Is A Must

Aim to engage in at least 30 minutes of cardio like running. walking, running, playing badminton or riding a bicycle at least five days per week. Try different everyday and make sure to take   rest too. Without a gym, there are numerous ways to get a good workout. One of the most effective pieces of fitness equipment is your own body weight.

3. Stay Hydrated

The standard daily recommendation is eight 8-ounce glasses of water. Make sure not to go overboard with it, as doing this may do more harm than good. Water offers numerous benefits to the body such as: eliminates toxins and impurities from the body, keeps you hydrated and makes you feel full. 

4. Try Healthy Snacks

When trying to lose weight, many people worry about snacking, but do you know healthy snacks can be advantageous? It helps you feel full between meals so you’re less likely to overeat at meals when you’re hungry. It also maintains steady blood sugar levels throughout the day. Sprouts, peanut butter, makhanas, handful of nuts, poha, upma or khakhra chips are some of the best healthy munchies. Make sure your snack calories shouldn’t exceed more than 250 calories. 

5. Take Supplements 

The process of losing weight can be difficult. However, there are a huge variety of weight loss supplements on the market. You can increase energy levels, speed up metabolism, get rid of food cravings, and burn off stubborn body fat with its aid.

Things To Avoid 

1. Practicing Deprivation 

Cravings can’t be avoided sometimes but that doesn’t mean you go overboard with it. For example, if you feel like eating your favorite food and you don’t like its healthy substitute, you can have it once in a while. Remember to maintain a balance, practice moderation not deprivation.

2. Skipping Breakfast 

Breakfast helps lose weight and makes you eat less during the day. Studies show that breakfast eaters lose more weight because their metabolism is boosted. Also, eating before a workout gives you more energy for an intense workout.

3. Chasing Perfection

Perfectionism often paralyses us. Why bother if we don’t eat and exercise perfectly all week? A few bad choices throw us off track. If you make healthy food choices 80% of the time, you can indulge 20% of the time. Same goes with your workout, you don’t always have to do intense workout, and sometimes dancing and brisk walking is fine too. 

4. Quitting 

It is important that you understand, weight management takes time, it won’t happen with a snap of a finger. Have patience and don’t quit. Don’t “try” to lose weight, rather decide to try again step by step. These small steps will change your life and just “don’t stop”.
