Health Alert: A known antigen self-test is withdrawn after detecting many false positives

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) launches a health alert and orders the withdrawal from the market of a autotest of Covid – 19 of the Genrui laboratories.

This health alert launched occurs after the discovery of irregularities in this self-test that serves to determine whether or not a person has Covid .

It happens that in Ireland hundreds of false positives misdiagnosed have been detected, and in Spain want to avoid a similar situation at all costs.

In fact, the number of known false positive cases in Irish lands amounted to 550, a figure that has been able to increase.

It is for this reason that the commercialization of this self-test of Covid antigens is nipped in the bud to prevent it from spreading further if it is not so reliable.

What test is it?

Specifically, the AEMPS specifies that the self-test of antigens that does not work perfectly is the Genrui , (Genrui Sars- Cov-2 Antigen Test Kit, references 52104097 and 52112086).

  • The AEMPS assures that an investigation is opened to find out to what extent the tests that were in Spain of these laboratories were affected.
  • Likewise, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) asks that voluntarily end the marketing process and withdraw from the market.
  • It therefore requires the collaboration of the distributors of the Genrui SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Self-Test to separate said self-test of antigens.
